January Update

I can't believe how long it has been since I've updated this blog. Everyone has probably stopped checking it because I've been such a slacker. Right now I'll just update you on January and then when I get another chance I'll update you about our holidays. If this seems disjointed it is because I'm talking to Camden and playing trains while I write it.

This year started out better than last year. We celebrated the transition from 2007 to 2008 at home because I looked like Quasimodo with my facial cyst. This year we spent the transition time with friends and kids. At one point in the evening we discussed how five years ago none of us expected that we would be happy spending the evening at a house with a bunch of kids running around. Yes we did come home before the actual new year and made a phone call to friends to wish them Happy New Year. Plus we watched the worst coverage EVER of the New Year by FOX.

Soon after the new year started, I had lunch with an old friend. Tess and I reconnected through Facebook. (Now I'm totally addicted to it.) It was so much fun to catch up with Tess. I loved hearing about her family and how their life is progressing. Plus, she is still teaching dance.

Unfortunately, our new year did not continue on that positive note. During the first full week of the new year, I started have some health issues. They were serious enough that the doctor double booked to get me into the hospital for some tests. Luckily, he didn't find anything serious. In fact, he said my Crohn's isn't very active right now. As usual, the sedation did a job on me. The info the hospital gives states that a person should be supervised for 12 hours after sedation. I really need 24 hours. Plus it took me several days to feel better between the health issues and sedation. By the beginning of the next week, I started new meds and began to feel normal. That was about the time Darryl came down with a horrible head cold. It knocked him flat and lasted about a week. Thank goodness I was feeling pretty good during this time. Of course he got over it and then Camden got sick. That lasted for about a week. We were worried he might have a case of RSV. I took him to the doctor just to be on the safe side. She agreed it had some signs of RSV but wasn't quite it. So we just did the usual cold fighting stuff and he got better. Of course he got better and then I came down with the cold. It knocked me down for about a week. I started to really feel better yesterday and then I looked around my house. After seeing the amount of laundry, dishes, filing, dusting, vacuuming, and tiolet cleaning that needed to be done, I didn't feel so good anymore. In fact, I'm writing this and drinking my coffee instead of doing the cleaning.

Camden continues to be the light of our lives. He loves to play tickle monster. We run through the house chasing each other and then stop to tickle. He still LOVES trains. Darryl and Camden counted his Thomas etc engines. Camden has 18 engines. I have no idea how many cars he has. It is INSANE!!! Recently I encouraged this love of trains. I took Darryl, my dad, and Camden to the train show. It was really cool. There were all kinds of trains set up to watch. I think Camden's favorite was the Thomas train that had eyes that moved. Unfortunately all of the trains were very expensive. Camden loved running through the inflatable train. I think this was his favorite. He also enjoyed the train where he turned the handles to make his car go.

Just the other day we started talking about what theme Camden wants for his 4th birthday. He informed me he wanted a red party. I'm not sure he understands what we are asking. One of these days soon, we are going to the party store to look at what they have. If he still wants a red party, I'll have to be creative. Keep your fingers crossed he picks Thomas.

Camden's imagination is amazing. He likes to play Polar Express, school bus, and play with his imaginary friend, Carter. Yes, he named his imaginary friend after his real friend Carter.

Camden is still in school and getting great reports from his teachers. Each day he comes home and tells me his job for the day. Some days he is the flag helper and leads the Pledge or the attendance helper taking it to the office. On days when he is the calendar helper and the weather helper, he puts up the date or the sun, clouds, etc. Other times he is the special helper. Usually, he gets to pick a special song to sing. The most recent song he picked was "Wiggly Party" by the Wiggles. It's a dance tune.

Darryl is continuing with his photography and DJ-ing. The wedding albums and videos he designs are AMAZING. My scrapbooking is improving simply because I see what he does. He is a great dj. He fills in at a local bar on some weekends. They love him up there. I think they would hire him full time if he was receptive to the idea. Right now it is just a paying hobby. Of course he can set up the garage to look like a dance club.

That gives a random update of the past month. Hopefully, I'll get more updates soon.
